Electronic patient record

All patients' medical data are collected in his electronic patient record (EPR). It contains data about the patient's daily measurement activities, his residence, treating physicians, rescue centers nearby, contact persons in case of emergency, drug plans, comorbidities and information about former hospital stays. An emergency call system is embedded: If a patient pushes a "red button" at home, he is connected immediately with the telemedical center. Medical experts see who is calling and communicate with him via loudspeaker in an uncomplicated way.

After completion of a patient's daily measurements, all data promptly enter his EPR. Medical experts are informed about the measurements via a new "task" appearing on their "task list" and evaluate them. A physician reviews the patient's electrocardiogram (ECG), a nurse reviews the other vital parameters (blood pressure, weight, self assessment). Together, they prepare a daily short medical report.

All data is available quickly in case of emergency. If the patients feels uncomfortable, the physician can ask him for a streaming ECG and the current oxygen saturation value. These - technically highly complex - features permit fast medical diagnosis if the patient experiences a serious complication.

Exclusively those medical experts working at the telemedical center (TMC) have access to the patients' electronic patient records. Every single component of the remote monitoring system meets all demands of data privacy and data security regulated by law for medical data. The system has been awarded with a certificate by the federal data protection officer of Berlin.
